Dress and Worship Style?

First Pres is a diverse community of families and individuals, which means we have people of all ages and backgrounds! Feel free to dress as you wish—we will have people in their “Sunday best,” and others in tee shirts and jeans. Expect a friendly welcome. We worship through a variety of musical styles, so look forward to a pipe organ and guitars, classic hymns and contemporary worship.

Preaching style?

Our pastors aim to preach the Bible faithfully and relevantly, focusing on Jesus and what he’s done for us. We like to dig deep into a particular Bible passage—what is known as expository preaching. Be prepared to be both encouraged and challenged!

How long are the services?

Services last about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Where do my kids go...

During Worship?

We invite children into the worship service because we believe they are an integral part of the church today. Nursery care is available for children ages 4 and under. Nursery is also available during all applicable church events and services outside of Sunday mornings.

What denomination is First Pres affiliated with?

First Presbyterian Church is an Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). The EPC motto is "in essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity," and we seek to live those values out at First Pres. As the EPC website states, "the EPC is both evangelical and Presbyterian. We are evangelical in our zeal for the gospel, as well as evangelism, missions, and living obediently as followers of Jesus. At the same time, we are rooted deeply in the Protestant Reformation and especially the theological and pastoral work of John Calvin. We embrace the Westminster Confession of Faith as our doctrinal standard, and the rule of spiritually mature elders linked together regionally as the best way to guide local congregations."

We are committed to the authority and infallibility of the Bible as the Word of God and to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation. For more details, see our What we Believe page, and the EPC website:  www.epc.org.
