As people who belong to Jesus Christ, we know something about hope. To know that your sins are forgiven creates hope. To know that Jesus has conquered death fills us with hope. To know you are a child of the King gives hope. To know that God is working His will in the world and through His Church inspires hope. We are people of hope, and our hope in Jesus Christ has always stirred us to share that hope with others.
The Session is asking you to consider participating in the Legacy of Hope through giving generously to this capital campaign. We have highlighted two major projects of the campaign. The entire scope can be seen in the booklet in this mailing. The Session has approved these projects and the entire amount of $262,000. Now it’s our turn. Will you give so that the next generations of our congregation will know the hope of Jesus Christ through the myriad ministries housed in these areas of our facilities? If the answer if “Yes!” then here’s how you can be a part of leaving a Legacy of Hope…
You can give in a few different ways as fits your preferences. We offer four ways to give: bill pay (directly from your bank), EFT (electronic giving), Online giving (through Realm) or through the offering plate on Sundays. If you have any questions on how to give, please contact Dan Wegehaupt in the church office (630-844-0050). Your investment in our needed renovations will ensure our ongoing ministry is in facilities that are safe and welcoming. Thank you in advance for being part of the Legacy of Hope.
List of Projects in Order of Priority
Priority #1 - Harkness Center Roof (COMPLETE)
This is an urgent project due to multiple leaks. Most are a result of drying and brittle caulk and adhesive from repairs made over many years. In addition to these, one hole is large enough to see through. Water on the floor has lead to one injury to an adult participant from a fall, making this our immediate priority.
Priority #2 - Christian Education Rooms—Step One
Many of the second floor children’s Sunday School rooms are in significant need of updating, after many years of use, general improvements include wall modifications and repairs, as well as paint and window coverings. In addition, this is the only location of our building still without AIR CONDITIONING.
Priority #3 - Lower Level Mildew Odor (IN PROGRESS)
The grade outside of several of our basement walls require work to achieve proper drainage away from the building. Over time, this has resulted in mildew odors in various areas, which need attention.
Priority #4 - Church Restrooms (IN PROGRESS)
You may remember that this project was on the last Capital Campaign list. Unfortunately, the funds raised ran out before the project completions did, so this one is still on the list. Women’s and Men’s rooms on all three levels of the church are due for an overall refreshing of varying degrees.
Priority #5 - Christian Education Rooms—Step Two
Having completed the updating of walls and painting and window coverings in Step One, attention can now be turned to the Flooring and Ceilings of the Sunday School rooms, as well as the second floor hallway.
Priority #6 - Sanctuary Windows (Plexiglass Coverings) (FULLY FUNDED)
Many of the sanctuary window exterior coverings have discolored and yellowed to the point of detracting from the beauty of the stained glass, from inside and out. More importantly, some of these window sills have rotted and MUST BE replaced before weather and moisture do further damage.
Priority #7 - New City Kids Mezzanine (FC)
The middle school and high school youth areas are in obvious need of upgrades resulting from changes and improvements made several times over many years, never with quite enough financial resources to complete the projects.
Priority #8 - Server Room (COMPLETE)
The second floor room that houses our church servers, is a significant distance from the church office, and has been difficult to maintain the temperature control necessary for the equipment. We have relocated the server room and this project is now complete and under budget.
Priority #9 - Reserve for PTL House Improvements
Priority #10 - Emergency Funds for Aging Equipment
